Pistachio Rose Waffles

While this is a classic flavor combination in Middle Eastern countries, rose water is not very common here in the States. This unique but simple breakfast dish is a low stakes way to try something new.
Course Breakfast, Brunch
Servings 6 small waffles

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup rose water
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup ground pistachios
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla paste

  • Combine all ingredients in a medium-sized bowl and whisk until smooth
  • If you want pink waffles like mine, add a dash of all natural food coloring to your batter
  • Preheat your waffle iron and light spray with nonstick cooking spray
  • Prepare waffles according to your waffle maker's instructions and size - for example, my iron is much smaller so I only use about 2 tbsp of batter per waffle
  • Let cool slightly and serve with a scoop of honey whipped feta (recipe in notes) and a drizzle of honey - garnish with extra chopped pistachios
