If you’re like me and your life revolves around your next meal, where to go for your birthday dinner can feel like an agonizing decision. That decision becomes even harder when your birthday falls on the first weekend restaurants are open after the COVID-19 lockdown. After much deliberation I decided to go with a new restaurant both to Columbus and to me: ROOH.

I’ve said it once, twice, three times, and I’ll say it again…there are NOT enough Indian food options in Columbus. This is one of my favorite cuisines and, when done right, can be absolutely magical. My boyfriend is very new to Indian cuisine and I was excited to experience this restaurant with him to see if it would open him up to something new. Well you can call ROOH chefs Sujan Sarkar and Swapan Das magicians because this meal was incredible.

We went with a few starters and one of their family style entrees. In an effort to not culture shock the non-foodie at my table, I stuck with butter chicken for our main. Now, I have tried and tried to make butter chicken at home and it’s good but it’s not great. This just blew me away. Truly I have not have Indian food this good since the last time I was in London.

When you combine the food with the cocktail options and the gorgeous interior design, eating here is truly a delight. Even better news? They offer takeout as well! So while this is higher priced than a traditional takeaway option, it’s definitely worth it as a treat if you’re craving some of the best food (Indian or otherwise) in Columbus.
